Prince Harry’s aide once called him “mate” by mistake, causing a bit of a fuss, a new book reveals. The aide quickly said sorry, and Harry replied, “Please don’t worry.”
It happened before Harry married Meghan Markle in 2018, when he lived at Kensington Palace with Prince William and staff.
While staff could be less formal with the brothers than with their dad, King Charles, “mate” was unexpected.
Nick Loughran, a former press secretary at the palace, was more casual with Harry, unlike with William. Ed Perkins, another press secretary, once accidentally texted Harry, calling him “mate.” He apologized, and Harry said it was okay.
The book also delves into Harry and Meghan’s life after leaving the royal family. They’re working on projects like Harry’s polo documentary for Netflix and Meghan’s new lifestyle brand. Their podcast with Lemonada has been delayed, reportedly due to other commitments.
