Uzor Arukwe has lamented over repeatedly being cast as the “Odogwu” character in movies
The actor, while speaking on the Creativitea Podcast, stressed the need for versatility, stressing that he should not be restricted to one type of role.
Arukwe also explained that producers keep asking him to repeat the character because they believe it would guarantee returns on their investment.
“All the producers in Nollywood now want to kill me with Odogwu character. You can’t put me in a box,” he said.
He urged producers to take chances on other characters, noting that someone took a chance on the role that helped establish his popularity.
“The same way someone took a chance on that character, you can also create another character and give to me,” Arukwe said.
