Prophet Isa El-Buba, the General Overseer of El-Buba Outreach Ministries, has condemned comments attributed to Islamic cleric Sheikh Yahya Jingir over Christianity, Muslim-Muslim ticket and political leadership in Nigeria
Jingir was heard in a video telling Nigerians who reject the idea of a Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket to leave the country. He also reportedly claimed that Nigeria belongs to Muslims and referred to Christians as “infidels.”
The remarks have drawn criticism from El-Buba, who said such statements could further deepen religious tensions in a country already facing serious challenges.
In a video, El-Buba expressed disappointment that religious leaders were making divisive comments while communities, particularly in northern Nigeria, continue to deal with insecurity, poverty, banditry, drug abuse, criminality and displacement.
He said his concern was not about attacking another faith but about encouraging Nigerians to focus on peaceful coexistence and the future of the country.
El-Buba also used his own actions as an example, revealing that he had provided assistance to thousands of Muslims in northern Nigeria despite having no personal relationship with them.
He said: “I’m coming to every Nigerian with a very serious, heavy heart, because I thought that at this stage of our lives, especially when we’re getting older, we should begin to think about Nigeria and how we can all live together in peace.”
He added: “As of today, I have supported over 10,000 Muslims across northern Nigeria. They have no relationship with me at all, whether it is the school of their children, whether it is their housekeeping, it is home issues and all of that.”
