The placard-carrying protesters chanted songs in Yoruba Language to show their displeasure and express solidarity with the detained ex-governor. Some to the placards bore inscriptions such as ‘EFCC, stop the persecution’, ‘Gov Ahmed was transparent’, amongst others.

The protest was staged despite strong security presence at the zonal office of the anti-graft agency.

Ahmed was quizzed by EFCC investigators on Monday over transactions running into billions of naira during his time as governor of the state.

The former Kwara governor, who arrived at the Ilorin office of the anti-graft agency on Monday morning, is yet to be released.

Ahmed is currently answering questions as to how these monies under his administration were spent.
