Ray J is reportedly in stable condition after checking into a hospital following an exhibition-style entertainment event involving the comedy battle-rap character Supa Hot Fire.
Supa Hot Fire is a parody persona from scripted rap battle skits, meaning the appearance was not a traditional boxing or MMA fight, but a staged entertainment event.
According to reports, Ray J had been cleared by doctors before participating. He underwent a full medical evaluation that included an MRI, MRA, chest X-ray, eye exam, EKG, and a full physical examination. His results were reviewed by independent physicians and approved by an athletic commission doctor.
He was also examined again on the day of the weigh-in and after the event as part of routine medical protocol.
A promoter representative said:
“The health and well-being of our fighters will always come first. It is protocol for all fighters to be medically evaluated and cleared by independent physicians and the athletic commission at every stage of the process – in the lead up to an event, again on the day of competition, and following the conclusion of the fight.”
The representative added:
“We are deeply thankful for the level of care that Ray J has received and join the many well-wishers continuing to send support, concern, and prayers for his well-being.”
Reports state that after the event, Ray J checked into a hospital due to heart-related concerns and has since been discharged.
