Real Madrid have officially announced the signing of Ivorian winger Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig
The Spanish giants confirmed on Thursday that an agreement had been reached with the Bundesliga club, with Diomande putting pen to paper on a contract that will keep him at the Santiago Bernabéu until the summer of 2033.
According to Sport, Madrid will pay over €120 million to complete the transfer after lengthy negotiations. The agreement reportedly includes a guaranteed fee of €125 million, an additional €10 million in achievable performance-related bonuses, and a further €5 million linked to more demanding targets. Former club Leganés will also receive five percent of the fixed transfer fee.
The transfer took longer than expected to finalise due to a disagreement involving the player’s current and former representatives.
Despite his relatively limited senior experience, Diomande arrives in Madrid with an impressive reputation. The 22-year-old has made 46 club appearances, featuring 10 times for Leganés and 36 times for Leipzig, including 33 Bundesliga matches and three German Cup outings. He has also earned 13 caps for the Ivory Coast, bringing his total senior appearances to 59.
Real Madrid believe the young winger possesses the quality and potential to become one of football’s standout attacking talents. Capable of operating on both wings, Diomande is expected to give head coach Jose Mourinho greater tactical flexibility and add more pace, unpredictability and attacking threat to the team’s frontline.
