Real Zaragoza goalkeeper Esteban Andrada is facing a possible lengthy suspension after a shocking late-game incident during his side’s 1-0 defeat to SD Huesca in Spain’s Segunda División derby
The dramatic moment unfolded deep into stoppage time of a tense relegation clash, with Huesca securing victory through a goal from Óscar Sielva. As frustration boiled over, Andrada was initially shown a second yellow card for pushing an opponent, resulting in his dismissal.
However, the situation escalated further after his sending-off. The goalkeeper briefly left the pitch but then ran back onto the field and struck Huesca captain Jorge Pulido in the face, sparking chaotic scenes and a mass confrontation involving players from both sides.
The incident led to additional red cards, with Huesca goalkeeper Dani Jiménez and Zaragoza defender Dani Tasende also sent off amid the unrest.
Both clubs condemned the ugly scenes. Real Zaragoza described the behaviour as “unbecoming of the sport” and confirmed they would take internal disciplinary measures, stressing that the actions did not reflect the club’s values.
Andrada later issued a public apology, admitting he lost control in the heat of the moment.
“It’s not a good image for the club, for the fans, or for a professional like myself,” he said, adding an apology to Pulido and stating he would accept any punishment handed down.
