Premier League referee David Coote has been suspended by his employers following the launch of an investigation into a video that allegedly shows him making disrespectful remarks about Liverpool and their former manager, Jurgen Klopp

The video, reportedly several years old, appears to show Coote referring to Klopp, who was then Liverpool’s manager, as a “German *” and “fing arrogant.” Coote officiated Liverpool’s recent 2-0 victory over Aston Villa on Saturday.
The Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) confirmed Coote’s suspension in a statement released on Monday, saying, “David Coote has been suspended with immediate effect pending a full investigation. PGMOL will be making no further comment until that process is complete.”
It’s worth noting that the PGMOL is in the early stages of its investigation, and there remains a possibility that the video could be a deepfake or generated with artificial intelligence.
