Speaking during an appearance on Channels Television on Wednesday, Omokri addressed claims that his vocal defense of Tinubu and sharp criticism of opposition figures—particularly Labour Party’s Peter Obi—are financially motivated.

“So who was paying me between 2025 and 2023 when I was traveling over on matters concerning Nigeria?” he asked, dismissing suggestions of a financial arrangement with the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Omokri emphasized that his support is not tied to any political party or personal gain. “Why would anyone give me money? I’m doing this not just for the love I have for Tinubu but the love I have for Nigeria,” he said.

To prove his point, he cited a recent self-funded trip to Lagos to verify information about the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway project. “Right now, I’m in Lagos and I don’t live here. I came because people have spread wrong information. I bought a ticket with my own money, then I gathered journalists and members of the public. I also bought a drone with my own money to verify that indeed the 30-kilometer highway is complete,” he explained.
