President of Dangote Group, Dr Aliko Dangote, has given Kaduna-based businessman Kailani Mohammed seven days to retract a publication he described as libellous, warning that failure to comply would result in a N100 billion lawsuit
In a letter delivered to Mohammed by his lawyer, Senior Advocate of Nigeria Dr Ogwu James Onoja of Onoja Law Firm, Abuja, Dangote demanded an immediate public explanation, retraction, and unreserved apology. The businessman had accused Dangote of engaging in “unclean business” in the 1980s in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The letter, dated December 20, 2025, states that Mohammed’s claims defamed Dangote, harmed his reputation, and cast doubt on the legitimacy of his wealth as Africa’s richest man.
The remarks by Mohammed reportedly came during an interview aired on December 17, 2025, on TrustTV news, in response to his petition against Dr Farouk Ahmed submitted to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
Titled “Demand for public explanation, retraction and unreserved public apology on your libellous publication against Alhaji Aliko Dangote, GCON,” the letter was signed by Dr Ogwu James Onoja, SAN, and formally notifies Mohammed of the legal consequences should he fail to comply within the stipulated seven-day period.
