Rihanna is currently facing heavy backlash over latest photoshoot for Interview Magazine
The image features Rihanna in a revealing black and white nun’s dress, with bold makeup and a provocative pose.
Internet called the photoshoot disrespectful to Christianity.
An internet user wrote, “I am a Muslim, but this is an insult to the Christian religion. Joke with everything except religions! (sic).” Another person wrote, “Christianity gets disrespected way too openly (sic).”
However, some fans are defending the singer, arguing it is an artistic expression and not meant to be a literal portrayal of a nun.
In 2021, she faced accusations of cultural appropriation for wearing a Ganesha pendant in a photo, and the previous year, Islamic text used in her Savage X Fenty lingerie show sparked controversy.
Despite the backlash, Rihanna has a history of embracing her faith publicly. In the interview accompanying the photos, she even discussed her Christian beliefs.
