A group of women in Rivers State staged a dramatic walkout on Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, during a women empowerment programme held at the EUI Centre on Monday

The event, which was meant to empower 500 women with various items, turned chaotic when Mrs. Theresa Ibas, wife of the Sole Administrator of the state, was invited to speak on behalf of the First Lady.
An eyewitness said the atmosphere changed immediately her name was announced, triggering murmurs and agitation among the attendees.
Moments later, several women—many dressed in matching uniforms—stood up and marched out of the venue, chanting slogans in defiance. Their actions drew the attention of security personnel and officials at the event.
The protest is believed to be linked to the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State, which has deepened tensions among various groups in recent months.
