Sabinus, has issued a public apology to fans of superstar singer Wizkid after facing backlash over a recent remark that was widely deemed disrespectful
In a video currently making the rounds online, Sabinus, who became a father last year, addressed the controversy during a live stream, appealing directly to Wizkid’s loyal fanbase, known as Wizkid FC. He clarified that his words had been misunderstood and insisted he meant no harm or disrespect toward the Grammy-winning artist.
“I wasn’t trying to insult Wizkid,” Sabinus said. “What I said was taken out of context. I would never speak badly about a legend like him.”
He went on to explain that fellow Nigerian artist Burna Boy had once given him a major platform abroad, opening doors in his career. Given that experience, Sabinus questioned why he would ever choose to disrespect another iconic figure in the music industry.
He added that he had already shared written apologies across his social media accounts. During the live broadcast, some fans demanded he kneel as a sign of remorse—and the skit maker complied, once again expressing deep regret for the misunderstanding.
Sabinus’s apology comes in the wake of a similar incident involving fellow comedian Carter Efe, who recently lost access to his Instagram and TikTok accounts after insulting Wizkid during a live stream. Wizkid FC had swiftly reported the pages, leading to their suspension.
