Veteran Fuji icon General Kollington Ayinla has sparked reactions with bold claims about his relationship with his former partner and fellow music legend, Queen Salawa Abeni
Speaking during a recent episode of The Teju Babyface Show, the 71-year-old music veteran made it clear that despite their years apart and Salawa’s current romantic involvement with someone else, he still considers her his wife for life.
“She’s more than just someone I dated. We have three children together. She is my wife forever — that’s how destiny arranged it,” he said.
Kollington reflected on their shared history, suggesting that their bond runs deeper than the average relationship. He pointed to the pressures of celebrity life, especially for women, as one of the reasons their romance didn’t last.
“She’s famous, and like male stars attract women, female stars attract men too. But women don’t always have the same emotional strength to deal with that,” he remarked.
Despite whatever distance or time has passed, the Fuji legend maintained that their connection has never been broken. “Whatever I’m doing, she always shows up. She’s still mine. Whoever she’s with now is just borrowing her,” he stated firmly.
Once one of the most admired couples in the Nigerian music scene, Kollington and Salawa Abeni continue to command respect individually and collectively as cultural icons in the Yoruba music world.
