Violent clashes have erupted in Kano, Nigeria, between hoodlums and security operatives, resulting in feared casualties and injuries
The affected areas include Rijiyar Lemo, Kurna to Bachirawa, Kofar Nassarawa, and Unguwa Uku.
As gathered by Daily trust, eyewitnesses report that the unrest began when youths defied the state’s curfew and continued protesting, leading to security forces intervening with force.
Multiple residents described the situation, with one reporting at least eight people shot, including women and children, and another detailing attempts by hoodlums to loot shops.
A Divisional Police Officer was allegedly injured, and victims are receiving medical attention at Salamatu hospital.
Social media users have shared accounts of the violence, including reports of police shootings and fatalities.
The police have mobilized mobile units and set up checkpoints to control the situation, but their spokesperson was unavailable for comment.
