Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (PDP, Kogi Central) has confirmed that she is ready to prove her s3xual harassment claims against Senate President Godswill Akpabio in court.
Her statement came after she was formally served with a ₦200 billion defamation suit filed by Akpabio, which she confirmed receiving on Friday in Abuja. She said the court proceedings now give her the platform that the Senate Committee on Ethics and Privileges had previously denied.

“The court process now provides the opportunity I have long sought to establish the truth of my claims,” Akpoti-Uduaghan said. She added that she would demonstrate that she was sexually harassed and that her refusal to submit to the alleged advances triggered sustained political attacks against her.
“See you in court, Godswill Akpabio,” she declared.
Akpabio’s suit, filed at the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, alleges that the Kogi Central senator made false and damaging claims portraying him as a predator who abused his office for personal gain. The lawsuit seeks ₦200 billion in damages, nationwide public apologies, retractions, and the removal of all online content related to the allegations.
Court documents indicate that Akpabio claims millions of Nigerians were exposed to Akpoti-Uduaghan’s interviews on television, radio, and online, resulting in reputational harm, public ridicule, and emotional distress. The filings include a detailed Statement of Claim and a list of witnesses to support his case.
After initial attempts to serve Akpoti-Uduaghan directly failed, a court order on November 6, 2025, allowed the lawsuit to be served via the Clerk of the National Assembly.
With both parties now officially before the court, the case is set to proceed and is shaping up to become one of the most high-profile political and legal battles in recent Nigerian history.
