The Nigerian Senate has confirmed Oritsemeyiwa Amanorisewo Eyesan as Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) and Engineer Saidu Aliyu Mohammed as CEO of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA)
The appointments, nominated by President Bola Tinubu, were fast-tracked by the Senate to ensure continuity in the regulation of Nigeria’s petroleum industry.

Eyesan, a petroleum economist, brings over 30 years of experience in the oil and gas sector, having held multiple roles within the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) and its subsidiaries, with particular expertise in upstream operations.
Mohammed, a chemical engineer, is recognized for his extensive experience in refining, gas management, and policy formulation, having previously occupied several strategic leadership positions in the industry.
The confirmations come amid leadership transitions within the regulatory bodies, part of ongoing efforts to strengthen oversight and enhance operational efficiency across Nigeria’s upstream, midstream, and downstream petroleum sectors in line with the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA).
Both CEOs are expected to drive investor confidence, enforce regulatory compliance, and promote the growth of domestic refining capacity and gas development in the country.
