Okpebholo took his oath of office at the ceremony, which took place today at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, the state capital.

Hon. Denise Idahosa was also sworn-in as the Deputy Governor.

They were both sworn-in by Edo Chief Judge, Justice Daniel Okongbowa.

Sen. Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) defeated the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Barr. Asue Ighodalo and that of the Labour Party Barr. Olumide Akpata, in the September 21 governorship election.

The ceremony was attended by some dignitaries including Vice President Kashim Shettima, Minister of Aviation Festus Keyamo and a former Edo Governor Adams Oshiomhole among others.
