Colombian singer Shakira will perform at the halftime show of the 2024 Copa America final.
The event will take place on Sunday, July 14, at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida.
Alejandro Domínguez, the president of CONMEBOL (South American Football Confederation), announced this on Tuesday. He said, “Shakira is an extraordinary South American star who has dazzled the entire world. We are sure that her performance at the Copa América USA 2024 will enhance the message of healthy passion and unity through sport.”
Shakira is no stranger to big sporting events. She has previously performed at the Super Bowl and three World Cups.
The final match will be between the winners of two semifinal games: Argentina vs Canada, and Uruguay vs Colombia. These semifinal matches are happening on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The organizers expect 54,000 people to attend the final match and see Shakira’s performance.
This event combines two popular elements – a major football (soccer) tournament and a performance by a globally famous pop star – which is likely to draw significant attention.
