Abdulrahaman Ahmad, son of controversial Islamic cleric Sheikh Abubakar Gumi, has successfully completed his training at the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) in Kaduna
Former Kaduna Central senator Shehu Sani announced the news in a post on X on Sunday, sharing a photo of Sheikh Gumi with his son.

“Sheikh Gumi’s son Abdulrahaman Ahmad graduated from the Nigerian Defence Academy. Congratulations and wishing him all the best in the service to our country,” Sani wrote.
Sources told The Cable that the official passing-out parade for the cadets will hold on Saturday, September 27, but the photo circulating online was taken at a pre-graduation event.
Sheikh Gumi, a former army captain, has gained national attention in recent years for championing dialogue with bandit groups, urging the government to adopt reintegration measures similar to those used for Niger Delta militants.
Only a day earlier, Gumi had appealed to security agencies not to jeopardise peace agreements reached between communities and bandit leaders in parts of Katsina State, warning that any breach could reignite violence.
He has consistently maintained that negotiation and dialogue remain the best route to resolving banditry in northern Nigeria.
