Singer Cat Janice is dead
The singer, best known for her song Dance You Outta My Head died of cancer, her relatives have announced
In a statement, shared to Instagram, the 31-year-old performer’s loved ones revealed that she passed away in her childhood home ‘surrounded by her loving family.’
‘Catherine peacefully entered the light and love of her heavenly creator,’ the post began. ‘We are eternally thankful for the outpouring of love that Catherine and our family have received over the past few months.’
They continued: ‘Cat saw her music go places she never expected and rests in the peace of knowing that she will continue to provide for her son through her music. This would not have been possible without all of you.’
Janice blew up on social media, particularly TikTok, after revealing that she had transferred all her songs to her seven-year-old son Loren’s name, so he would receive all the proceeds.
Her family added that ‘per Cat’s request, there is some more art that she wants to share too’ all ‘in due time.’
Janice, 31, from Washington, D.C., was diagnosed with sarcoma – cancer of the bones or soft tissue – in early 2022.
She underwent surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation – all while she continued to record and release new music – and was told she was cancer-free in July 2022.
But in June 2023, the mom-of-one announced via social media that the disease had come back, this time in her lungs, eventually taking her life.
