Safiya Salihu and Halima Abdullah, mother and sister respectively of the late terror!st kingpin Kachallah Ibrahim Battujo have been sentenced to 40 years’ imprisonment
They were found guilty of several counts in a five-count terror!sm charge filed by the Office of the Attorney General of the Federation.
Justice Hauwa Joseph Yilwa delivered the judgment on Friday, sentencing both women after they admitted guilt to Counts 2, 4, and 5 of the charges.
However, they were discharged on Counts 1 and 3, which involved allegations of receiving ₦490,300 from the terror!st kingpin and using proceeds of terror!sm to sponsor a pilgrimage.
According to the court, Count 2 established that both women aided and abetted Battujo’s terrorist activities by passing information to him through phone conversations, an offence punishable under the Terror!sm (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022.
Safiya Salihu, the mother of the slain kingpin, also pleaded guilty to Count 5, which involved concealing information about her son’s terror!

Halima Abdullahi, on her part, admitted to Count 4 for failing to disclose that her brother illegally acquired fire-arms, which she reportedly observed during visits to his forest hideout.
The prosecution, led by the Director of Public Prosecution, Rotimi Oyedepo, SAN, urged the court to strike out some counts but insisted on conviction for the remaining charges, which the court upheld.
