Six Die As Boat Capsizes In Benue River
Benue Police Command has confirmed a boat carrying 40 persons has capsized along Fada village in Guma Local Government Area.
A statement by Benue spokesman Kate Anene, an SP, said six persons died in the incident while 26 were rescued and taken to the hospital for checkups.
She said the incident occurred around 2 pm while the search for eight persons is still ongoing
The Police spokesperson said the Commissioner of Police Benue State Command, CP Wale Abass, commiserated with families and friends of the dead while advising travellers who choose water transport to employ maximum safety measures.
