Six people have been shot dead after a gunman opened fire at the MillerCoors beer factory headquarters in Milwaukee.

The shooter, described only by police as a 51-year-old local man, has been confirmed by the company CEO as a former employee – understood to have been fired earlier on Wednesday before he returned with a gun, reports local media.

It has been reported the shooter was one of those killed, by a self-inflicted gunshot wound, and police confirmed there was no longer an active threat at around 4.45pm. The identities of the victims have not been released.
