Grammy-winning Nigerian artist, Burna Boy has issued a blunt warning to fellow musicians, urging them not to be misled by online hype and virtual validation

In a rare public message, Burna Boy stated:
“Dear artists, don’t let Twitter polls and ‘Naija social media fans’ deceive you. They won’t fill up any stadium for you in any part of the world.”
The remark appears to be a critique of artists who rely heavily on social media engagement to gauge their success, especially within the Nigerian online community.
While fan support on platforms like Twitter can be loud and loyal, Burna Boy emphasized that real-world success, such as selling out stadiums globally, requires far more than digital applause.
His statement echoes sentiments he shared in a 2023 interview, where he said:
“I don’t like people on Twitter. I used to think it was just Nigerians on Twitter that were mad. Then I went to Kenya, I saw it was the same thing. I went to South Africa, I saw it was the same thing.”
