Social commentator Solomon Buchi says he is stepping away from conversations about Nigerian streamers, pastors, government officials and issues involving Nigerians in Nigeria.
In a statement shared on his page, he explained that he no longer has the patience for the arguments that often come with speaking about these subjects. He said he has noticed that people may call for change but become defensive when someone they support is questioned or held accountable.
He also said the effort involved in speaking about Nigeria no longer feels worth it to him, especially when he finds himself having to argue with Nigerians while trying to raise concerns about issues affecting them.
Buchi wrote:
“Moving forward, I will no longer offer commentary on Nigerian streamers, pastors, government officials, or matters concerning Nigerians in Nigeria.I simply do not have the patience to contend with the Stockholm syndrome that often shapes these conversations. Everyone claims to want change until their favourite person is confronted or held accountable.The return on speaking about Nigeria is far too low: you often have to fight Nigerians just to fight for them, and I no longer have the endurance for that battle.There are better and more productive things for me to speak about.God bless everyone involved.”
