Soludo sworn in as Governor for second term

Anambra State Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo and his deputy Dr. Onyekachukwu Gilbert Ibezim have officially commenced their second term in office

The swearing-in ceremony took place on Tuesday at the newly renovated Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka, drawing prominent figures including Vice President Kashim Shettima, as well as former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan.

Soludo, representing the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), secured a second term in the November 8, 2025 off-cycle governorship election. He and his deputy took their oaths of office at around 11:05 a.m., administered by the Chief Judge of the State, Justice Onochie Anyachebelu.

The governor and his deputy were joined by their wives and families during the ceremony.

The inauguration events began on Sunday, March 15, 2026, with an interdenominational service at the International Convention Centre, marking the conclusion of Soludo’s first term and offering prayers for a successful tenure ahead.
