Actress Blessing Obasi has addressed the criticism she received from some Christian viewers over her lesbian role in Blood Sisters 2, where she portrayed a lesbian character.
Speaking in an interview on Yanga FM, the actress said her profession requires her to interpret different characters and should not be used to judge her personal beliefs or values.
She explained that the storyline was inspired by real-life events and was not created to promote any lifestyle, but to touch situations that exist in society.

According to her, some critics questioned her decision to accept the role, arguing that it was not fitting for someone who identifies as a child of God. She maintained that acting involves stepping into different roles as required by a script.
“We are telling a real story about things that truly happen,” she said.
She further clarified that the production team handled sensitive scenes carefully and did not intend to glorify or encourage the subject matter, but rather to present the reality within the prison setting.
“They said ‘as a child of God how would I take such role’ and I said ‘we are telling real stories of what happens in the prison. However the production company was sensitive enough not to depict the horridness of it. They are not in support of it (lesbianism) but they are telling the story,” she added.
Blessing noted that despite the backlash, she chooses to focus on positive feedback from viewers and fans rather than negative comments online.
“There is so much positivity,” she said. “I put my mind on that.”
She also added that many of those who leave harsh comments online may be going through personal challenges, saying she prefers to respond with prayers rather than anger.
