Sophia Momodu’s legal team has filed a N1 billion lawsuit against Davido following a tense court encounter, accusing the music star of harassment, threats, cyberbullying, and defamation.
According to the pre-action notice sent to Davido, the suit stems from events during the February 12, 2026, hearing of his custody case against Momodu in the High Court of Lagos.

Lawyers for Momodu allege that Davido became verbally abusive and aggressive toward their client, who appeared as counsel for the respondent, forcing court officials to intervene. The notice states that Davido was ordered by the court to apologise publicly, but he failed to comply.
The notice further claims that following the hearing, an Instagram account linked to Davido shared Momodu’s photo and identity with his large online audience, triggering a barrage of threatening messages and abusive communications. Davido is also accused of posting defamatory content on his verified social media accounts, falsely questioning Momodu’s lawyer professional competence and publicly tagging her, which allegedly encouraged his followers to harass her.

Momodu’s lawyers state that Davido went even further by publicly targeting individuals he mistakenly believed were her relatives, exposing them to threats and ridicule. The campaign of harassment, they say, has caused serious harm to her professional reputation, emotional wellbeing, and personal safety.
To avoid formal court proceedings, the notice demands that Davido immediately cease all public commentary regarding the case, issue a clear and public retraction of all defamatory statements, formally apologise on all verified platforms, direct his followers and associates to stop any harassment or intimidation, and pay N1 billion in damages.

Failure to comply within seven days will prompt the commencement of legal action at the High Court of Lagos.
