Omoyele Sowore has announced plans to go ahead with a protest in Lagos over the recent demolitions in Oworonshoki, defying a warning from the Lagos State Commissioner of Police
On his Facebook page, Sowore wrote:

“I heard the CP of the Nigeria Police Force Lagos had the effrontery to warn that TIB & I are not to protest over Oworonsoki Demolitions; these unprofessional, wornout officers have no place in our society. The mass action must go on!”
He criticized the police for trying to stop the demonstration and insisted that the protest would proceed as planned.
The demolitions in Oworonshoki have drawn widespread criticism, with residents claiming their homes were destroyed without proper compensation. Eyewitnesses reported that police used tear gas and deployed around 50 officers during the late-night operations.
In response to Sowore’s planned protest, the Lagos police commissioner warned him and his supporters to stay away from the state, threatening legal consequences if public order is disrupted. The commissioner defended the demolitions, stating that the affected areas were illegal structures often used by criminals.
