Jesus de Miguel has d!ed after a collision during Tenerife’s match against Andorra on Monday evening
The 30-year-old suffered head and chest injuries following a collision with Andorra goalkeeper Jesus Owono, who was sent off the challenge near the halfway line.
Owono had sprinted from his goal to clear a long ball when his knee collided with De Miguel’s chest.
De Miguel rolled on the floor immediately after impact but was then motionless on his back as several players urgently signalled for medical help.
The referee showed Owono a red card before the match was abandoned.
An initial statement from Tenerife on Monday night said that De Miguel was ‘stable’ in hospital.
But a second update from the Spanish club in the early hours of Tuesday morning said that De Miguel’s ‘medical condition has worsened neurologically’.
Later on Tuesday morning, Tenerife announced that De Miguel has d!ed.
Tenerife’s statement said: ‘Heartbroken, with a lump in our throats and unable to believe this is true, CD Tenerife announces the tragic de.ath, this Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at 8:00 a.m., of Jesús de Miguel Alameda.
‘There are no words of comfort; there is absolutely nothing that can lessen this overwhelming sadness. We stand with his grieving family, with his loved ones, with all of Tenerife who mourn this cruel loss today.
