Veteran actress, Hilda Dokubo has spoken out on what she described as a growing crackdown on freedom of expression in Nigeria
Taking to Instagram, Hilda suggested that speaking the truth is now being treated as an offence in the country.
“There is a new crime in Nigeria, it’s called speaking up. All you need to be guilty is a sound mind and a voice of truth,” she wrote.
Her statement comes amid the ongoing controversy surrounding the arrest and detention of social media personality Justice Crack, whose real name is Chidiebere Justice Mark. He was recently remanded in DSS custody over allegations linked to a viral video about the Nigerian Army .
Justice Crack was accused of circulating content the authorities described as capable of inciting unrest and undermining military discipline, leading to his arrest and prosecution.
