Viktor Gyokeres stole the show with a stunning hat-trick as Sporting Lisbon dismantled Manchester City 4-1 in the UEFA Champions League

The victory marked a memorable farewell for manager Ruben Amorim in his last home game.
City initially took the lead through Phil Foden, but Gyokeres equalized before halftime. After the break, Maximiliano Araujo scored a stunning goal, followed by Gyokeres’ two penalties.
Manchester City dominated possession but struggled to contain Sporting’s counterattacks. Erling Haaland missed a chance to reduce the deficit, hitting the crossbar from the penalty spot.
Gyokeres sealed the win with his third goal from the spot, capping an incredible night for Sporting Lisbon.
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola acknowledged his team’s subpar performance, stating, “We were not at our best, but we have to overcome this situation.”
The loss exposes City’s vulnerabilities ahead of their upcoming challenges. Meanwhile, Sporting Lisbon celebrates a historic win under Amorim’s guidance.
