Ana Ivanovic and former Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger have gone their separate ways after nine years of marriage, with the tennis star’s lawyer sharing a statement announcing the pair’s divorce

Ivanovic and Schweinsteiger were one of the sporting world’s most recognisable couples due to their success in their respective fields, and married amid a flurry of press in Venice in 2019.
The couple first met in 2014, during the former German international’s extended spell at Bayern Munich.
Schweinsteiger moved to Man United a year later in 2015, as Ivanovic was beginning wind down her glittering tennis career.
Their wedding took place in July 2016, with Ivanovic, who memorably won the French Open in 2008, then retiring from tennis in December 2016.
The former French Open champion and the World Cup winner share three sons, with their youngest born less than two years ago.
Their first two sons are named Luca and Leon, respectively, while the name of their third son has not been publicly confirmed.

After months of speculation over the status of their relationship, Ivanovic’s representative Christian Schertz announced that the pair were separating due to ‘irreconcilable differences’.
As per BILD, the lawyer then stressed that there would be no further statements from the couple, and asked for privacy for the couple and their children.
