Staff Of Kwara Water Corporation Threatens Indefinite Strike

Staff of Kwara State Water Corporation have notify the State
government on plans to embark on a three-day strike over the alleged
non-payment of three-month salary arrears and other entitlements.
While some staff pasted various placards on the entrance
gate of the corporation demanding the payment of their entitlement which they
said had summed up to millions of Naira, some sat patiently hoping for divine
    intervention.
A member of the negotiating team, Olusesan Isa, decried the
outstanding salary arrears of three months, deduction of cooperatives
contribution amounting to 40 million Naira, non-promotion of staff for three
    years among other demands.

A staff of the corporation, Lanre Oladimeji, threatened that
the staff would embark on an indefinite strike should the government and
management of the corporation failed to respond to their demand after the
    initial three-day warning strike.
He added that several meetings held with the management had
    not yielded any positive response.
In his reaction, the spokesman to the Kwara State Governor,
Dr. Muideen Akorede, described the ultimatum as unfortunate.
He told reporters that the State government was making
efforts to settle the rift between the staff and management while assuring that
the dispute would soon be resolved.
