Stephen Belafonte has filed his response to Mel B’s divorce petition. The Spice Girl, 41, filed for divorce late last month and Stephen has responded by asking for spousal support.
According to TMZ, Mel has asked the judge to deny her estranged husband support. Stephen has also reportedly asked her to pay his lawyer’s fees. Their separation date has also been disputed – Mel listed it as December 28 while Stephen claims it was March 1.
This matters when it comes to dividing up property, reports TMZ. According to the website, they both acknowledge that property is at stake, suggesting they had not made a prenuptial agreement
Like Mel, Stephen is also said to have asked for joint legal and physical custody of their daughter Madison.
Stephen’s filing comes after Mel made a number of bombshell allegations, including that he had beaten her on a number of occasions and forced her to participate in threesomes.
Stephen later released a statement through his lawyer’s calling the allegations “a smear campaign”.
