The Super Eagles of Nigeria secured a 1-1 draw in their latest AFCON 2025 qualifier against Benin, held at Stade Felix Houphouet-Boigny in Abidjan on November 14, 2024

This crucial game saw Nigeria trailing for most of the match after Benin took the lead early with a header from a set-piece play.
Nigeria’s persistent attempts to equalize were rewarded late in the game when Victor Osimhen scored with a header from a well-placed cross by Moses Simon, bringing the score to 1-1. This draw not only demonstrated Nigeria’s resilience but also confirmed their qualification for the upcoming AFCON tournament set to be held in Morocco in 2025.
The result builds on Nigeria’s strong performance throughout the qualifiers, where they led their group with ten points going into this match.
This qualification marks a significant milestone for the team as they continue their preparations under the leadership of coach Austin Eguavoen, who emphasized the team’s commitment to fighting for every point.
