Suspected Herders Kill Six In Benue

 

Barely a week after the inauguration of the state security outfit known as Volunteer Community Guards in Benue State, armed herders on Wednesday killed six people at two communities in Logo Local Government Area.

The incident, according to locals, happened at Tse Ngojov and Tse Valem Yaweh in Mbagum communities, Tombo council ward in Logo Local Government Area of the state.

It was gathered that the suspected herders invaded the communities around 9pm on Wednesday, shot sporadically, killing six people and injuring three others.

The source identified the deceased as Ander John, Vihior Mtomga, Morgan Varem, Saaior Uyoosu, Aondoyima Tarbo and Peter Asondo.

The injured ones were identified as Terngu Tyavkase Usue, Igbaule Valem and Chiater Tarbo (a. k. a Ajimmy)

One of the locals who simply identified himself as Terhemen said, “On August 10, 2022, at about 9:00pm, armed Fulani herdsmen attacked Tse Ngojov and Tse Valem Yaweh in Mbagum community Tombo council ward, Logo LGA and murdered the following persons

“The injured persons are receiving treatment at the Primary Health Care Ayilamo”.

The Security Adviser to the governor, Lt Col Paul Hemba (retd.), confirmed the killing.
