Tambuwal Steps Down, Fayose Sacks Speaker’s Aides

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal,
has confirmed his withdrawal from the presidential race. Tambuwal confirmed
this in a statement today where he said he was standing down for the “unity” of
his party, All Progressives Congress, APC, and he will be supporting other
aspirants seeking the party’s ticket.

The speaker will now contest as the governor of his home
Sokoto State, according to a source.

Meanwhile, the Ekiti State Government today terminated the
appointment of all aides to the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the State House
of Assembly. This was announced today by the Secretary to the State Government,
SSG, Modupe Alade in a statement made available in Ado-Ekiti.
