Actor and filmmaker Tchidi Chikere has paid tribute to his late colleague, Francis Duru, remembering him for his humility and peaceful nature.
In his tribute, Tchidi reflected on why people write about friends and colleagues after their de.ath, questioning whether the person they are mourning will ever get to read those words. He noted, however, that such tributes also allow family members, friends and fans to remember the person and the values they stood for.
He wrote:
“I don’t know what purpose it serves to post about a late friend or colleague. We post with the hope that, somehow, the person who has passed away has become a spirit who can visit every page on social media, read our posts and feel good wherever they are .
“So, if you’re somehow reading this, Francis, you will always be remembered for your humility and peaceful disposition. And if you never read this, your fans and loved ones will, and they will know what you stood for and the values you will always be remembered for.
“Journey well, my brother, and may God grant you eternal rest .”
Tchidi’s tribute comes following the de.ath of Francis Duru, who died at the age of 57 after a brief illness.
