Nigeria’s 4x400m men’s relay team has been disqualified from the final at the Paris Olympic Games due to a lane infringement

The team, consisting of Emmanuel Ojeli, Ezekiel Nathaniel, Dubem Amene, and Chidi Okezie, had finished heat 2 with a Season’s Best time of 2 minutes 59.81 seconds.
However, officials ruled that one of the Nigerian runners crossed lanes, causing a South African runner to trip.
As a result, Nigeria’s spot has been awarded to South Africa.
The Nigerian team had hoped to replicate the success of their predecessors, who won bronze in 1984, gold in 2000, and bronze in 2004.
