Pavel Durov, the billionaire founder and CEO of Telegram, was arrested at the Bourget Airport outside Paris on Saturday evening
He was traveling aboard his private jet when French authorities detained him due to an arrest warrant.
The arrest was made on allegations of terrorism, drug trafficking, and money laundering.
Durov, who holds both French and Russian citizenship, was accompanied by his bodyguard and an unidentified woman at the time of his arrest.
The investigation has drawn international scrutiny, particularly regarding the implications for digital privacy and freedom of expression on messaging platforms like Telegram.
