The remains of a tenant, Caleb Chiemele, have been recovered from a short-let apartment on the LSDPC Estate, off Freedom Way, in the Lekki Phase 1 area of Lagos State
Punch Metro gathered on Monday that Chiemele, who had been staying in the apartment since May 12, did not come out of his apartment on June 12 and out of curiosity, some concerned persons, including the owner of the apartment, Adewole Olufemi, in an attempt to ascertain his condition, peeped through his window but met the tenant lying motionless on the floor of the apartment.
Upon realising that Chiemele was irresponsive, policemen attached to the Maroko Division were alerted and officers detailed to investigate the case, mobilised to the apartment, forced the door open and while assessing the tenant’s condition, they reportedly observed that he had d!ed.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, said the command had begun an investigation to ascertain the cause of Chiemele’s death, adding that the corpse had been deposited in the morgue for autopsy.
