This was disclosed at the end of its National Church Denominational Leadership Summit 2026, where CAN Chairman, His Eminence Archbishop Daniel Okoh, stressed that prayers alone are not sufficient to address the country’s worsening security challenges.

He said there is a need for concrete and urgent action to tackle insecurity, calling on the Federal Government to declare a state of emergency on security matters.

Okoh also urged the acceleration of the establishment of state police and the decentralisation of the security structure to ensure faster and more effective responses to thre.ats.
