No fewer than 30 residents lost their lives while several others were taken away by gunmen during a midnight assault on Dutsin Dan Ajiya village in Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara State
The attack happened around 12am on February 19, 2026, barely 48 hours after the Zamfara State Government unveiled new security equipment and drones aimed at tackling rising insecurity across the state.
According to locals, the assailants stormed the community on motorcycles, sealed off the main entrance, and began shooting indiscriminately. Amid the chaos, they abducted an unspecified number of villagers before fleeing the area.
The incident came shortly after a similar deadly raid in Arewa Local Government Area of Kebbi State, where about 33 people were reportedly killed.
As of the time of filing this report, attempts to get a reaction from the Zamfara State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Yazid Abubakar, were unsuccessful.
