Whether it’s a tropical paradise with white sand and crystal clear water or a dramatic coastline with rugged cliffs, beautiful beaches can be found in every corner of the world, so deciding where to throw down one’s towel can be tricky.
Luckily, assistance has arrived in the form of a ranking of the top 50 stretches of sand for 2019.
It has been compiled by Big 7 Travel, which drew up the list from a poll that quizzed 6,105 of its readers about their favourite spots. Data from review sites, Blue Flag status rankings and the opinions of its editorial team were also named as sources.
The best-ranked beach is Zlatni Rat, also known as Golden Horn Beach, in Brac, Croatia, which is famous for its unusual shape.
Whitehaven Beach on Whitsunday Island in Australia comes second, while Fig Tree Bay in Cyprus is third, Grace Bay in Turks and Caicos is fourth and the Secret Lagoon in El Nido in the Philippines is fifth.
