The Nigerian film industry, is mourning the loss of veteran actress Madam Elizabeth Evoeme, who passed away at the age of 81
Best known for her iconic role as Ovularia in the 1980s television series “The New Masquerade,” Evoeme’s demise has left a void in the hearts of her fans and colleagues.
Born on December 1, 1942, Evoeme’s career spanned several decades, and her legacy as a talented and dedicated thespian will be deeply missed. Despite rumors of her death in 2019, which were later debunked, her family has now confirmed her passing, surrounded by loved ones.
In a statement, the Evoeme Emekalam family expressed their gratitude to fans, friends, and colleagues for their support and requested privacy during this difficult time. “We thank you all for your support and for respecting our privacy at this time. God bless you all, and may our dear Elizabeth ‘Ovularia’ Evoeme rest in perfect peace, now and always,” the statement read.
Evoeme’s iconic role as Ovularia in “The New Masquerade” remains etched in the memories of many, and her contribution to the Nigerian film industry will be forever celebrated. May she rest in peace.
