Senate President Godswill Akpabio has weighed in on the rising wave of violence across the country, urging Nigerians not to lose sight of the wider picture as insecurity intensifies.
His remarks came during Tuesday’s plenary, which was dominated by anger and concern over the killing of Brigadier-General Uba Musa in Borno State, the abduction of 25 schoolgirls in Kebbi, and the murder of a school vice principal — all within a single day.

As senators took turns lamenting the deteriorating security situation, Akpabio urged caution and perspective. He reminded lawmakers that Nigeria’s sheer size places enormous pressure on the nation’s security architecture. “We sympathise deeply with the families affected, but we must remember that Nigeria is a very large country,” he said.
He noted that the country’s security agencies are stretched far beyond their limit. “It is not even possible to deploy one policeman to each polling unit during elections. Our security agencies are overstretched and find themselves in places they shouldn’t ordinarily be.”
Akpabio also stressed that insecurity is not unique to Nigeria, pointing out that even the world’s most advanced nations struggle with crime. “There is no society without crime. Even the almighty America records crime daily. But we must continue to do our best to minimise it,” he stated.
Nigeria has faced an alarming rise in deadly attacks in recent months, with insurgents, bandits, and armed groups intensifying assaults on communities. Critics continue to demand stronger government action before the situation worsens further.

Look at what this man is saying when lives are going lost in a daily basis… Because it’s not your family members that are experiencing these attacks…
What am I even saying?
I forgot you deer not say anything to the contrary. All of you defending the government know the truth in your heart of heart. But the fear of Tinubu will not allow you to call a spade a spade.
