Tuchel, a renowned German manager, was the FA’s top choice after initially considering Pep Guardiola.

Tuchel boasts impressive club credentials, having managed Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, and Borussia Dortmund, and winning the Champions League with Chelsea in 2021.

Although Tuchel lacks international coaching experience, the FA is confident in his ability to lead England.

Negotiations concluded swiftly, with an official announcement expected this week. Tuchel’s appointment ends speculation surrounding the England camp and interim coach Lee Carsley’s future.

Other contenders included Eddie Howe, Graham Potter, and Pep Guardiola, who is out of contract with Manchester City at season’s end.

FA Chief Executive Mark Bullingham and Technical Director John McDermott spearheaded the effort to secure Tuchel’s services. This appointment marks England’s first foreign manager since Fabio Capello in 2012.
