The Enugu native doctor, Obi Levi Obieze — also known as Levi Obu Onyeka — who was arrested by the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) over allegations of ritual k!llings and kidnapping, has claimed the dead bodies discovered in his compound were planted by his “enemies.”

Obieze, a native of Umuojor village in the Isiagu Community of Ezeagu Local Government Area, had been on the run after being declared wanted by the Nigeria Police Force in connection with the kidnapping of a 13-year-old girl and a series of suspected ritual killings.
The young girl, who was abducted while heading to the farm with her father, was eventually rescued by police officers from a shrine allegedly operated by Obieze. The shrine, located in his hometown, became a scene of horror when law enforcement found two decomposing bodies buried in a soakaway pit sealed with concrete.
Three other suspects linked to the girl’s abduction — Uche Kingsley Agumba (33), Ilo Nweze Onyedikachi (36), and Ejike Odinwankpa (38) — were arrested by the Enugu State Police Command. Obieze had managed to evade capture until Thursday when NIS officers intercepted him at the Gbaji checkpoint along the Badagry-Seme border road while he was attempting to flee the country on a motorcycle.
During a preliminary interrogation, Obieze admitted he is from Enugu State but claimed he resides in the Benin Republic where he sells Okrika (fairly used clothes). When asked where he was headed, he responded vaguely, saying, “I don’t know where I’m heading to right now because they say before you kill somebody, allow the person to talk.”
He went on to claim the case against him is politically motivated, alleging that he was being targeted due to a kingship dispute in his village.
“It is something politics, fabrication against me because I will be the next king… and some people in my village don’t want me to be that next king,” he said. “They planted evil against me front and back so that I can fall. The PG (President General) of my village went and demolished my house.”
When asked if he was a native doctor, Obieze denied it, saying, “No… all these things are just to weaken me. As I’m talking now, I’m homeless.”
He claimed that the dead bodies found in his soakaway were planted there by individuals trying to sabotage his bid for kingship.
“There is someone that is working for them and they planted a dead body in my house… I have already answered this matter. They caught the guy who planted the dead body. I didn’t know the guy before, and that was why I was free.”
Despite asserting that he lives and does business in Benin Republic, Obieze was unable to produce a passport during his arrest. He told officers he only had an ID card.
